Sedir Island, also known as Cleopatra Island, is located on the 18 km. north of Marmaris. The island is famous for its golden sandy beach known as Cleopatra Beach and the ancient city of Cedrae. Majority of the tourists visiting Marmaris also take a visit to this heavenly place during their Marmaris stay.
How It’s Like?
Cleopatra Island (Sedir) is a very beautiful promenade region. The island is situated very close to the port of the Camli village. You can have a great beach and cultural day out here in the company of the ancient city of Cedrae remnants, the golden sandy Cleopatra beach, the sun and the sea.
The Camlik Port is the transportation point. About 3 km. from the Camlik Port, you will see a small village of Camli. It is believed to be the first settlement area of the Caria region. Fresh air, clean water and beautiful landscape await you there.

Cleopatra Beach
There is an interesting beach on the small bay on the northwest of the island, that is believed to be that Cleopatra used to swim here and have been imported by Mark Anthony as a gift to his love Cleopatra.
According to the legend, Cleopatra and Antonius used to swim here and the sands have been brought by the ships from North Africa. It’s been said that this type of the sand can only be seen in Egypt.
Ancient city of Cedrae
Sedir island is the site of the ancient city of Cedrae. The remnants are spread throughout the island. The remnants of the city walls and the antique theatre can also be seen.
The ruins on the east part of the island stands for the era of Romans. Theatre area is in good condition. On the east part of the island there is an Agora. According to some epigraphs, athletics festivals have been organized in this area for the honor of Apollon.
Boncuk Cove
About 9 kilometres away from the village Camli, you’ll find Boncuk Cove. The cove is very popular. It has a clean and comforting water. There is a facility on the shore for the visitors. The area is popular for swimming in a calm, quite and rocky are.
The region between Boncuk Cove and Karaburun is the one and only observation area in Mediterranean for the sandbar sharks’ fertility and growth. Diving tours are organized for observation especially during May-June.

How to Get There?
On Your Own
If you want to go to Cleopatra Island (Sedir) and beach by private or rented car, then Camlik Port is the transportation point from the Camli village.
You’ll see the Camli Village sign on the 12th km. of Marmaris-Mugla Road. You’ll need to drive for about 6 km. more from the turn, and you’ll reach the Camli Port. There you’ll find the regular boats to the Sedir Island.
